Safeguarding
Our Safeguard Principles
Trust
We create a trusting environment – When children feel safe and secure, they are more likely to form a trusting relationship with their caregiver and peers at nursery. At Tom Thumb Nursery, we operate risk assessments, operate a secure premises, and appropriate supervision to create an atmosphere of trust, allowing children to feel confident and supported in their learning journey.
Training
We empower all nursery teams with training – At Tom Thumb Nursery, all our staff undergo compulsory comprehensive safeguarding training practices, including recognising signs of abuse, understanding child protection procedures, and responding to disclosure appropriately. Our team are empowered to confidently and competently safeguard the children under our care and respond to any safeguarding issues that may arise.
Security
We make sure we are Safe and Sound – At Tom Thumb Nursery, the utmost priority is placed on ensuring physical safety. To achieve this paramount objective, we have made substantial investments in state-of-the-art physical security measures. These include cutting-edge door access card systems and advanced ANPR (Number plate reading) CCTV cameras. By employing these technologies, we proactively deter potential hazards and mitigate risks before they materialize, thus safeguarding the well-being of our nursery.
Collaboration
We collaborate with external agencies – At Tom Thumb Nursery, if concerns arise, we work closely with relevant external agencies such as social services, healthcare professionals and the Children’s Advice and Duty Service (CADS), to ensure the safety and well-being of children under our care. Our collaborative approach strengthens the nursery’s safeguarding efforts and facilitates appropriate support for children and their families.
